There's a Blog in my Soup!: Do you ever google yourself? (Sounds naughty, doesn’t it?)

  • Roland Hesz · 1 year ago
    I do. About once a week :)
    2230
(+ results for my nick Despil, but that can!t be measured being a novel character, and all.)

One of the reasons I branded as "Dr. Pete" is that my given name (Peter Meyers) is way too common: 251,000 results. On the bright side, I rank #3, #5, and #8 (counting my LinkedIn profile), which isn't too shabby.

I read a post LONG ago about setting up vanity searches to come into your feed reader. Technorati has the same capability, along with TweetScan and Teraminds.

The greatest tool I've found to look yourself up is Trackur - I'm sure by now I sound like a paid monkey with how much I pimp this service but I just love it SO much! It's great and finds stuff you'd never find otherwise that's tagged with your brand name.

Yep, I google myself, mainly to see what's coming up in case someone else does the same ;)

I'm not the only "Hannah Valentine" though--there was a slave in the mid-1800's with the same name.

Between us, and a couple other Hannah Valentines, there are 5,110 results. My other online identity, opheliac9, has 4,250 results.

If nothing else, it's fun to look back at some of the stuff one has posted.

Yeap, I'm googling my self. Now I'm at 1330 (using "muswardi", my last name that I'm usually used) :D

John Chow had his main site penalized by google, this is why John Cow actually comes up as the # 1 result. Always good to have multiple avenues of traffic! :)

Just googled myself....20,000 but that includes EVERYONE with my first and last name. I'm #1, 2, 8, 9 and 10!

My business (ethnicomm) shows 2,600 results :)

    I got 359000 damn...
  • Patrick Curl · 1 year ago
Wow, congrats, that's pretty impressive. Good luck further branding yourself, and your business.
  • Patrick Curl · 1 year ago
Hey trisha thanks for the tips, I'll have to check out trackur.

Dr. Pete, I can definitely see your point, I'm sure though that before they became famous there were probably some john chow's, or darren rowse's, but I can see perhaps that's reason Shoemoney is branded as shoemoney, and not his real name. I'm lucky that there aren't very many Patrick Curl's, and now I pretty much ruined it for anyone else with my name - lol.
  • Patrick Curl · 1 year ago
wow, kaysha - what term are you using for your brand?
  • Rob Abdul · 4 months ago
My name “Rob Abdul” for the last 3 years has been my brand name.

Google has 3,360,000 results for Rob Abdul.

I was so proud when my name appeared in Google suggest.

It may not sound like much but at least 60 to 80 people Google me a month.

It is nice for the Ego, I must admit!
